More information from the Thai Temple Rubbings website:
The monkey generals, horrified at this turn of events, gather round their fallen leader.  While the others support him, Hanuman tries to withdraw the spear from his wound.  For all his strength, however, he is unable to move it.  Realizing that a spell has been cast over the weapon, Hanuman tries a little magic of his own.  Laying his hands together, the Son of the Wind mutters three times a formula known only to himself.  At the end of the third repetition, the spear falls from Phra Lak's body, the wound heals itself and Phra Lak rises up unharmed and ready to settle accounts with the demon leader.  The monkey leaders return to their troops and the fighting once more becomes general.
